misterb&b, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ travel platform with over one million users, offers short-term lodging options in 200 countries. Known for its commitment to providing a safe and inclusive environment, misterb&b differentiates itself by delivering a seamless experience for both hosts and travelers. To uphold its reputation for exceptional customer service, misterb&b sought an innovative solution to meet the complex demands of its two-sided marketplace.

 

Challenge

As a global travel service catering to both hosts and travelers, misterb&b encountered significant challenges in managing its diverse customer service needs.  These included addressing hosts' inquiries about local taxes, assisting travelers with planning, and ensuring compliance with varying city regulations worldwide. The growing complexity of these demands called for a more efficient, scalable customer support system that could maintain service excellence and reinforce community trust.

 

Solution

misterb&b partnered with CurrentWave AI (CWAI), a leader in customer experience AI solutions, to address these challenges. CWAI integrated its CXchatAI API into misterb&b’s existing Zendesk chatbot, harnessing misterb&b’s existing knowledgebase to deliver fast, accurate answers in over 50 languages with AI.  This AI solution reduced response times from 30 minutes with a live agent, to an average of just 3.34 seconds—transforming the customer experience.

 

Implementation

The CXchatAI API was seamlessly integrated into misterb&b’s Zendesk chatbot with minimal effort from the misterb&b team. The AI was trained on misterb&b's existing knowledgebase and continually undergoes further fine-tuning to ensure safe, accurate, and context-sensitive responses. This implementation allowed misterb&b to maintain its service standards throughout the transition, enabling a smooth shift to AI-enhanced customer service.

 

Results and Benefits

Within six months of implementation, misterb&b saw a 20% reduction in support tickets and a 32% improvement in chatbot containment rate (the measure that indicates fewer users asking to speak with an agent after interacting with the chatbot) – reducing the need for users to escalate queries to a human agent.  The enhanced AI capabilities allows misterb&b’s human agents to dedicate their time to more complex customer issues, further improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

These changes were reflected in misterb&b’s Trustpilot score, which rose to 4.1 stars—well above the 1.5-star average for traditional short-term rental services.
